Description:
The Social Media Specialist supports the university's Graduate & Online Programs Department’s organic lead generation and growth objectives by providing strategically-devised content for a variety of social media platforms, and completes marketing projects that conform to established brand guidelines and produce results. We are looking for a strong writer/content creator with creative and effective ideas for optimizing social content to attract and support prospective students considering finishing a bachelor's degree online or getting a master's degree.
Responsibilities include:
- Plan a content calendar for social media channels that optimizes engagement, audience growth, and department objectives.
- Create and publish social media content using a content management platform that executes the organic marketing strategy. Content is primarily written content with some visual (images, illustrations, infographics, videos, etc.) elements.
- Contribute creative ideas, both content and coordinating visuals, for social media content that will produce the desired result.
- Work with members of the marketing team to strategize and execute effective organic marketing projects.
- Support a variety of writing projects which may include blog articles, ad copy, video scripts, testimonial interviews, email sequence communication plans, audience building, etc.
- Research and understand different audiences to support effective message creation.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Student pursuing an undergraduate degree in Communication, Marketing, or related discipline
- Strong writing skills
- Ability to understand and follow a brand guide
- Good judgement regarding appropriate written and visual content for your audience on social media
- Knowledge of social media platforms and how they operate
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with social media content creation
- Familiarity with using social media content management platforms
- Ability to research and understand different audiences
- Familiarity with Associated Press writing style
